1 Samuel 26:8-9, 23
Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.
And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD'S anointed, and be guiltless?
The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: for the LORD delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S anointed.
Glory be to God that we are here again today hale and hearty. Daddy Lord, it is Your doing and it is marvellous in our sight. Thank You Father in Jesus name. Amen.
The Bible text above is another reminder that God's anointed must be revered, respected and honoured. To be anointed is to be empowered by God to do His will. As long as you are anointed, that anointing must be respected by you the carrier and others.
Nevertheless, people are anointed or empowered for various purposes. It could be for empowerment, healing, deliverance, a closer walk with God etc.
Here in this story, you find David refusing to hurt king Saul who was even pursuing him everywhere to kill him. Remember that David was also anointed according to 1 Samuel 16vs13, yet he won't hurt God's anointed because God warned against it.
As long as you obey Psalms 105vs15, not to touch God's anointed negatively, it shows you love and fear God.
Ðavid had another opportunity to kill king Saul, but instead he just cut a piece of his garment and still spared his life.
Even for cutting Sauls cloth, David was deeply troubled.
1 Samuel 24vs3-12.
Note that all this while king Saul was seeking for the life of David, yet David feared to hurt God's anointed. How many of us will be that lenient with an enemy?
You see, before God called David a man after his heart He had searched his heart through and through and found him worthy.
Touching God's anointed, is touching God who anointed him. Can you stand the wrath of God?
This was the mistake that king Saul made. He forgot that David was anointed and worst still David was anointed to replace him.
I pray for us that we will not make a mistake that will make God replace us in Jesus name.
David loved God enough, feared Him enough, revenged and obeyed Him enough not to touch or hurt His anointed.
This is why, you must respect, obey and honour your Pastor. You can correct him in love or pray about any issue affecting him but quarrelling with him, insulting him, backbiting, blackmailing, insulting or cursing your Pastor or anyone anointed is disobedience to God. Even if you feel that someone is not anointed but claims to be, leave him for God and if he is impersonating God, sooner or later, he will be exposed and disgraced.
King Saul, his sons, brothers, and his mighty men died as prophesied by David.
1 Samuel 26vs10.
1 Samuel 31v4-6.
Let us take the case of Moses the younger brother of Miriam in Exodus. Miriam and Aaron talked ill about Moses marrying an Ethiopian woman . She was from a nation that God forbade His children to marry from. Though it was wrong, God struck Miriam with leprosy for judging Moses. Moses had to cry to God again for her healing.
Numbers 12vs10-15.
Be careful how you talk ill about or hurt any anointed man or woman of God.
God cherishes His anointed and so He protects them.
You as an anointed, be careful of God's anointing on you.
Be genuinely surrendered to God so that you will know how to follow, honour, and serve the Lord.
Give your life now to Jesus if you haven't done so yet.
God alone is my Source of health, love, peace, joy, and strength.
MEMORY VERSE
1 Samuel 26:11
The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD'S anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.
PRAYERS.
My Father and my God, please help me to be deeply connected to You, so I can obey all your commands in Jesus name.
